Anti-aircraft drones General Cherry AIR, developed in Ukraine, downed more than 1,000 Russian Molniya drones in December alone, according to data from the Delta operational monitoring system.
The number represents about one-third of all Molniya neutralized during that period, highlighting the effectiveness of the Ukrainian platform in short-range aerial combat.
The company claims it continues to improve its drones based on combat experience and changes in Russian tactics. A recently released video shows the interception of a Molniya by the 39th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment, emphasizing the growing role of interceptor drones in airspace defense.
The Molniya is a low-cost kamikaze drone made from simple materials and difficult to detect by radar. With a range of 30 to 40 km and a warhead of up to 7 kg, it is used for both attacks and reconnaissance.
More recent versions of the Russian drone include thermal sensors, artificial intelligence modules, and even FPV drone transport capabilities, expanding its threat on the battlefield.
